General information on Grenada

Grenada is an island of the Grenadines, located in the south eastern Caribbean at 12.12º N 61.68º W known as the "Spice Island". Grenada is divided into six parishes, the main one being Saint George, its capital. The islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, two islands of the Grenadines, have the status of a dependency.

May is the hottest month in Grenada, with an average temperature of 27º Celsius. The coldest month is January, with an average temperature of 25º Celsius. Grenada is located below the “hurricane belt” and is rarely affected by these storms.

Grenada Infrastructure & Geography

Geo-politically, Grenada is part of the British Commonwealth of Nations, although it has been an independent nation since 1974. The official language is English, the total territorial area is 348.5 km² and the population is approximately 110,000 inhabitants. Grenada is a member of the The Orgnisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

The modern international airport serves as a hub for flights from London, Miami, Venezuela, New York, Toronto and other nearby islands, as well as private jets. The port of Saint George’s has a wide range of ferries that go from island to island, as well as private yachts. The territory is mountainous, with rainforest, hot sulfur springs and waterfalls, which are ideal for ecotourism. Grenada is full of beachfronts with crystal clear, beautiful turquoise waters, and has complete public services and an excellent road network. The main sources of income are mainly from tourism and agriculture; products include banana, cocoa, coffee, avocados, citrus, nutmeg and various other spices.

Grenada Hotel Investment & Citizenship

Some of the main benefits of Grenada’s CBI programme are that investors do not have to reside in Grenada or renounce any citizenship that they already own (subject to the laws of their current citizenships). To acquire the passport, prospective applicants do not have to visit the island either. Passports have a validity of ten years may be renewed, as Grenada citizenship is for life.

The only current investment option that is eligible under the CBI Programme is through a direct investment in an approved real estate project, like the one we are developing at Kimpton Kawana Bay. Property acquired must be a minimum cost of USD $ 350,000. The property must be owned and maintained for a minimum of 3 years, one of the shortest property holds of any citizenship programme.

CBI Benefits

With the acquisition of CBI, an investor can travel to more than 115 countries without a visa, including the European Union Schengen area, the United Kingdom, Singapore and China.

The benefits obtained by Grenada under this type of legislation include the creation of new long-term sustainable employment opportunities and, directly and indirectly, the benefits derived from the new investment that greatly strengthen the national economy.

For the investor, the following are some of the direct benefits:

A) Fast processing time (the process takes between 60-120 days);

B) The opportunity to own real estate in a branded resort, which is part of the InterContinental Hotels Group, the largest hotel company in the world.

C) Participation in the transparent hotel rental pool, where owners receive a share of revenue;

D) Eligibility to apply to the USA E-2 investor visa, which allows for entrepreneurs to reside in the USA. Grenada is the only Caribbean nation with a CBI programme whose citizens also have access to the E-2 visa.

In addition to the hotel leaseback real estate, starting at US$350,000, Kimpton Kawana Bay also offers penthouses and luxury condominiums for sale.

Kimpton Kawana Bay will help you through every stage of your citizenship process.
